Local GP Federation Opens Doors to New Caterham Vaccination Site

PRESS RELEASE: 10th December 2021

GP Federation, Alliance for Better Care (ABC), has unveiled the latest of its vaccination sites at Oakhall Church in Caterham. The venue will work closely with North Tandridge Primary Care Network to host clinics for first and second dose Covid vaccinations, as well as boosters and Flu jabs.

Since December 2020, ABC has managed a vaccination site at the town’s Westway Community Centre, however the site is set to host its last clinic on Sunday 12th December. The Westway team have administered more than 65,000 doses of the Covid vaccination, and was one of ABC’s first vaccination sites to launch a year ago.

The Westway Community Centre, which is a hub of the local community, will now be able to return to a full calendar of events and community projects.

Katherine Saunders, Alliance for Better Care, CEO said: “Westway has played such a huge part in the success of our vaccination programme. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Claire Richards and all of the team who have worked so hard and welcomed us so warmly during the past year. As we move to Oakhall we’re excited to increase our clinic capacity and roll out Phase Three of our programme as effectively and efficiently as possible.”

While the JCVI has made recommendations to adjust the eligibility criteria for boosters – this has not yet come into full effect. Patients should check their eligibility on the NHS website: www.nhs.uk

In addition to the existing cohorts who have been invited for a booster, patients aged 40+ who received their 2nd dose more than three months ago can now book a booster appointment via the NHS website or by calling 119.
