ABC has been commissioned by East Surrey, Crawley and Horsham and Mid Sussex CCGs to provide the nationally mandated Improved Access to General Practice service. This service provides routine General Practice/Primary Care appointments with GPs and nurses on every weekday evening and every weekend for all patients registered with a practice in East Surrey, Crawley and Horsham and Mid Sussex.

Patients can be seen for a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries that would normally be seen within a GP surgery. We would recommend that for on-going problems, where possible, you should see your own GP to ensure continuity of care.

These services are being offered at multiple hub locations based at local practices and hospitals. Appointments can be booked through your GP practice and they will be able to offer you further information about times and locations depending on which GP practice you are registered with.

Update for practices:

Reception support
We ask that all of our Emis practices using the hub, include all pertinent details of the patient being booked in so that the hub can effectively trace and register this patient. This would include NHS number or name, gender, DOB. This is necessary to ensure that the patients’ records are available to the clinician when doing the consultation. If your reception staff would like any additional training or support please let us know.

111 Direct Booking
We have been working to enable direct booking into weekend Improved Access appointments. Appointments will not be reserved for 111 and so it won’t affect practices’ allocations. We have been testing the process and some appointments will now be made available to 111. All practices have been notified.
